My mom's a descendant of Mele Tonga Blake who's brother or nephew was George Blake. I know a lot about the geneology from my aunt and grand aunts. What i can tell you is that its a HUUUUGGGEEE family. Alexander Blake had quite a lot of kids....not quite sure how many but these are the ones i know of. There was Mele Tonga Blake, Ma'ata Blake, Elenoa Blake (went to Fiji), Annie Ruby Blake (Fiji), Kalisitiane Blake, Lopeti Blake, George Blake (i think or he was a grandson) and some others that i can't really remember right now. Its actually quite impossible to hold a single reunion for each of Alexander's children's descendants because of the massive number so what usually happens is that Ma'ata Blake's descendants have their own reunion, Mele Tonga's hako have their own etc etc. ITs a very huge family but the good thing is that they still keep the ties connected through funerals, weddings, birthdays etc etc.

Review the recent history of how the corrupt Tongan government illegally changed the Tongan constitution to BAN FREEDOM OF SPEECH.

It is well documented in both the court files (on the web) and in newspapers.

In essence, the Tongan governemnt illegally attempted to change the constitution 3 times to ban freedom of speech in TOnga.

The court over-ruled it on all 3 ocassions as illegal.

Eventually the judge that made the deliberations resigned....it was purported that his life was threatened...he is now the high court Judge in Fiji.

Even after all this....other government officers started making their own laws to prevent freedom of speech.

For example Sefita Tungi the commissioner of taxation "Made a tax ruling" to prevent the importation of the Taimi 'o Tonga news paper, on the basis that it contained "illegal content".

The court ruled against Tungi (who was just trying to get in good with the Royals for his next job promotion)

The court said saying that you cannot ban something that has not yet been printed....meaning...How can you tell in advance the newpaper has any illegal content in it....It hasn't even been printed yet!

I would like –if I have time – to deal with your question later. But am introducing here an approach to solving poverty in terms of education but of which can also be used in others areas of leadership skills in our endeavour to overcome poverty overall in Tonga – its challenges and its potential – with an example from Taumu’alelei relating to this approach.

Challenges and potentials for leadership qualities :

Current leadership in Tongan Govt maybe not have enough/or appropriate thought /strategies on how to motivate/promote self determination for younger generation. That is, a strategy that is dynamic, innovative, determined, forward-looking and forward-thinking.

This strategy is not just directing people to do things, rather it is to challenge, and motivate people by giving them all incentives they need, encouraging them to have the will and or hope to do things thenselves to the best of their abilities and knowledge --without being forcing them –to do their best, and to achieve their goals.

Here, I am assuming --refering to an answer given in the story below.—that once those factors are presented /made available, people will realise that because their goals are achievable –especially young people –we’ll then just watch how they will explode and almost unstoppable in their wiilingness to achieve nothing but the best…

To do this we must provide incentives for achievable personal goals which lead to further national development goals which in the end provide for Tonga’s best and brightest who, in terms of leadership –in all fields –are yet to come.

This is what a young talented school master who used to teach in ‘Apifo’ou but now the principal of Xavier College in Fiji managed to have outstanding records for his school.

His students have set very high level with 100% passing the Fijian National Diplomas 5 times and his 7th forms students have 100% passings twice over the last three years…not to mention achievements in other competitions including 20 times Coca Cola’s school examination competiton and of Television quiss competitions continually over the last three years…

When asked of hid strategies…Brother George (Felela Siaosi), simply said, its God’s work.. though its clear that God’s power is in him.. He said, he simply regard the school his family and that 80% of his work is in the level of being a person to person (students level), 15% as being a brother’s relationship level with his students, and only 5% as being a Principal or Master of the school level with a student..

This amazing story was published by Taumu’aLelei on its current Issue of the month of November 2005 which I have just read now.

Tak naprawdę to nie do końca była to odpowiedź na plan Z, albo nie tylko na ten plan. Zresztą nie do końca wiem ile Brytyjczycy wiedzieli o planie Z.
Przybliżone dane nowych pancerników niemieckich na pewno znali, ale czy wiedzieli ile ma być wybudowane to nie wiem.
W każdym razie w 1939 roku zatwierdzono do budowy 4 jednostki typu Lion. Pierwsze dwa miały być rozpoczęte w 39 następne dwa w 40. Podobno planowano zamówienie kolejnych dwóch rok później, ale pogłoski te są dosyć mgliste. Osobiście uważam to za bardzo prawdopodobne, ale jakoś nie sądzę w terminowość dostaw tych okrętów. Szczególnie dwóch ostatnich.
Już na początku 39 roku rozważano budowę okrętu który ostatecznie przybrał postać Vanguarda. Gdzieś koło 39 roku Brytyjczycy szykowali się do "czarnego" scenariusza - czyli wojny z Niemcami, Włochami i Japonią. Do tego potrzebowali PANCERNIKÓW jak najwięcej i jak najszybciej. Lotnictwa wtedy nie doceniano. Jako, że mieli dosyć wyrobione zdanie na temat przydatności bojowej typu Revenge, a modernizacja jego na skalę Queen Elizabeth była nie opłacalna ( za mała odległość między wieżą B i X ), planowano stopniowe wycofywanie tych okrętów w miarę wchodzenia do służby okrętów King George V. Przez literaturę przewija się wątek budowy kolejnych okrętów typu Vanguard w miarę dostępności dział demontowanych z pancerników Revenge. Prototypowy okręt miał być poddany wszelakim próbom i gdyby okazał się udany miano budować kolejne Vanguardy. Ile tego to już nikt nie pisze wprost, pewnie sama admiralicja nie miała sprecyzowanej koncepcji.
Do tego dochodzi głęboka modernizacja Hood'a i Nelsonów.
Podobno największą bolączką brytyjskiego przemysłu pod koniec lat 30 tych była mała produkcja ciężkich dział. Skoro tak to budowa kolejnych Vanguardów była by bardzo prawdopodobna. Ale zważywszy na kłopoty z wydajnością produkcji płyt pancernych i ich import z Czechosłowacji dla krążowników Fiji i lotniskowców Illustrious to jakoś wątpię czy wszystko to by wybudowano szybko i sprawnie. Do tego dochodzi ograniczona przecież ilość doków i pochylni, a cześć doków miała być zajęta na kilkuletnie modernizacje Hooda i Nelsonów.

First let me again state my belief. I do not believe in the present political structure of our government and how representative are being elected. That has been my belief and what I have been saying all along. My issue was with the approach that the democratic leaders did on 11/16, trying to force their model while the capital is on fire. Secondly, there has been too much Royal & PM bashing instead of bringing out fresh idea on how to move forward with the reform. It seem that the old argument continue to prevail, and of which I have argued, "will lead to a dead end road, where violence and destruction is going to take place."

We seem to agree that more democracy is needed in Tonga, and that the people has the right to elect their leaders to represent them. We seem to agree that corruption has taken place within the royals and government, and it is time to change. What should be our civilize approch to reform as free people is what I am questioning. Like Sionoa, Paul and others inhere, we all have the passion and love for our Tongan people; we demand accountability and responsibility from our leaders, not only from the government but from those elected to represent us.

I have raised the question on 'absolute power' to see if there are levels of 'absolute power' which are greater than the others. Your answer seem to imply that there is. As with the Governor of the U.S, he has certain absolute power to rule on certain issue, but only until the next election where he could be removed. While in Tonga, the King can appoint his Ministers for life. You have not touch on the difference between how this absolute power is used in Cuba and North Korea to see if we can determine any difference. What is clear than, is the fact that we use the word "absolute" here too lightly. When the word "absolute" is used here in connection with "power," there should not be any limit to that ruler to do as he please. But it seems to me, that the Tongan Constitution also put limits to the Mornachy in what he can do or what he can't do.

I would still like to see some of the abuses that past kings has done, since the foundation of our Constitution, regarding peoples land and so forth. You have mentioned that they are documented. We are trying to determine how far and deep was the abuse of absolute power during the reign of Kings and Queen since the Constitution.

I can say this much for now: George Tupou I was a strong figure, conquer his enemies in the final battle in Pea, setup a Constitutional government that gave freedom to the people. I am not sure if you knew what it was like before hand, when the peoples labour was to supply the Nobles and than they the king. And now, The absolute rule enjoyed by former kings before the Constitution is now limited, though it gave him more power over the parliament. The next king, George Tupou II, also found that his power was limited as the Parliament seemed to exercise more power than him during his reign; he was threatened to be deported to Fiji by the British Consul, if he did not rule Tonga according to the Constitution of his great grandfather. Queen Salote's power was quite limited during the earlier stages of her rule, it was not until much later that she gain the power and support as Queen; her legacy of love and care for her people still echo through the streets of London. Tupou IV ruled his kingdom during a transitional period that was taking place around the Globe. He entered the throne at the beginning of the Coldwar between the U.S and their N.A.T.O Allies against the U.S.S.R, lived to see the endgame of this Geo-political exercise, ending with the distintiction of the godless states from the World Map. He also lived to see a new era of warfare, the war on terrorism. It was and still a period where influxs of foreign visitors was being expose to Tonga for the first time, while Tongans begin to experience the departure from their homeland in the thousands. New Tongan scholars and educators return to educate and guide the Tongan mentality to the future of technology, economy, democracy and so forth. Tupou IV, breath his last breath knowing that Tongan is marching through the street of Nuku'alofa calling for reform. Not only is Tonga changing, the world herself has change. The question is, how do we go about our change and revolution without loosing our soul and identity as a Tongan People that has been consecrated to God?

We must now turn the page and stop the blame game. We must admit the fact that 11/16 was our "Day of Shame," then we can move on. We must admit at all levels that our leaders had failed us, both in the governmental level and in our representative. Without this realization of fault, we will continue to head down that "Road less Travel" where death awaits our beloved people.

When I don't fancy anything in particular to read, I love thumbing through my collection of Dictionaries from around the globe. But as much as I enjoy reading all these secular books, none tops it all but the Holy Bible King James Version for me... as a history lover, this is to me the most facinating and most accurate history book around, not to mention very self-fulfilling when read in the right Spirit.

In Tonga, the Tu'i Kanokupolu is a title held by the chief of the House of Tupou, currently the Royal House of Tonga. Kanokupolu is the name of a village in Hihifo district, which probably was Ngata's residence when he was still a governor under his father Mo'unga 'o Tonga of the Tu'i Ha'atakalaua dynasty.
The Tu'i Ha'atakalaua was a dynasty of Tongan kings, which originated in the 15th century by taking over the power from the Tu'i Tonga line. Lost the power in 16th century to the Tu'i Kanokupolu dynasty, and disappeared into nothingness by the end of the 18th century.

Mo'unga motu'a – around 1470; might have been first installed as viceroy by his older brother Kau'ulufonua I the incumbent Tu'i Tonga, as the latter remained in his residence on the high grounds of Olotele in Mu'a, while he had to stay on the lowlaying lands of Fonuamotu, reclaimed from the lagoon. These two areas were separated by the Fonuamoa (dry land) road. As such his followers became known as the Kauhalalalo (low road people) while the chiefs associated with the Tu'i Tonga line became known as Kauhala'uta (inland road people). However considering what happened after, it seems that later (or sooner) Mo'ungamotu'a seized all the power from his brother although he did not dare to wipe out completely the Tu'i Tonga. Instead he sent Kau'ulufonua away to Samoa and reigned in his name until his new dynasty, the Tu'i Ha'atakalaua line had grown powerful to eclipse the Tu'i Tonga. That took about a century.

Ngata - started off as governor of Hihifo on behalf of his father the Tu'i Ha'atakalaua Mo'unga 'o Tonga, around 1600



The Tu'i Tonga is a line of Tongan kings, which originated in the 10th century with the mythical 'Aho'eitu; withdrew from political power in the 15th century by yielding to the Tu'i Ha'atakalaua; and died out with Laufilitonga in 1865. Today its descendants still live forth in the chiefly line of Kalaniuvalu.

Enele Ma'afu'atuitoga, commonly known as Ma'afu, was a Tongan Prince and Fijian chief. He was born in Tongatapu, Tonga, in 1816, as the son of Aleamotu'a, Tu'i Kanokupulu In 1840 he married Elenoa Lutui, with whom he had one child, Siale'ataongo, in Nukualofa. Ma'afu died 6 February 1881 in Lomaloma, Vanuabalavu, Fiji.
